Scientists have found a magnetic material that is suitable for the Internet of the future - 6G

Scientists from Osaka University and their colleagues discovered a collective resonance in the magnetic superstructure, it

occurs at high frequencies. The name of the structure is the chiral spin soliton lattice (CSL). The authors conclude that chiral helimagnets containing CSL are a promising material for 6G launch.

Future communication technologies need to expandfrequency band: it should increase from today's few gigahertz (GHz) to more than 100 GHz. Such high frequencies cannot yet be achieved. Existing magnetic materials resonate and absorb microwaves up to about 70 GHz. The authors of the new work decided to investigate this issue.

They proposed a helicoidal spinsuperstructure CSL. According to the team, it has a rebuildable structure with periodicity. This means that the material can be continuously modulated by changing the strength of the external magnetic field.

During the experiment, the authors observed the modemultiple resonance. During it, the CSL phonon was discovered. In this case, the frequency spontaneously increases with decreasing magnetic field strength. This is an unprecedented phenomenon, which may allow to increase the frequency to more than 100 GHz with a relatively weak magnetic field. This is the key point that is needed to launch 6G.
