Scientists have found ancient viruses that were not previously known to science

An international team of scientists has announced that they have found ancient viruses whose existence

science did not know before. Moreover, they most likely belong to different periods, since their structure is noticeably different from each other.

In total, specialists managed to find 33groups of viruses, although 5 of them have already been previously described in other scientific articles and the work of their colleagues. According to scientists, they will continue to analyze sections of glaciers in order to find ever new viral groups. At the same time, they separately note the fact that this work needs to be done immediately, since climate change around the world can lead to massive melting of glaciers.

”In the worst case, melting ice due to changeClimate can release pathogens into the environment. In this case, we should know in advance what they are, ”the authors of this scientific work said.
