Scientists from Perm Polytechnic University decided to find out what is the reason for poor sound insulation in residential apartment buildings.

For the analysis of soundproof materials, scientistsbench structures were used. For the experiments, the researchers reproduced noise that varied in characteristics, frequencies, and sources. The measurements were carried out using a sound level meter-vibrometer, an acoustic calibrator, a humidity and temperature meter.
As a result, scientists found samplessoundproofing materials whose declared characteristics do not correspond to the actual data. This material, as it turned out, is often used in the construction of buildings.
Causes of poor sound insulation - lack ofcontrol from developers and the choice of cheap building materials. This problem is especially often seen in houses built using the technology of monolithic-frame construction. The seamless monolith transmits the sound, and the internal reinforcement only enhances it. At concrete joints, the noise is not extinguished due to the lack of sound-absorbing materials.
