Scientists have found that rains cause volcanic eruptions

An article was published in the popular scientific journal Nature, which states that scientists have succeeded

find out a rather interesting feature of rains - according to experts, they can cause volcanic eruptions.

At least it was the increased precipitation that causedKilauea eruption in 2018, scientists say. They also said that local precipitation in large quantities can noticeably change the time and frequency of eruptions in Kilauea, as well as, possibly, on other volcanoes.

”An eruption occurs when pressure inthe magma chamber high enough to break the surrounding rocks, and magma moved to the surface. This increase in pressure causes inflation of the earth by tens of centimeters. Since we did not see any significant inflation a year before the eruption, we began to think of alternative explanations. Interestingly, when we examine the history of historical eruptions in Kilauea, we see that magmatic invasions and recorded eruptions occur almost twice as often in the wettest periods of the year, ”said lead author Jamie Farquharson of the study.
