Scientists have created a new system for predicting the probability and impact of earthquakes on the entire region: its

developed by a team of researchers in collaboration with SCEC. 

Fortunately, major earthquakes are rare.lack of information, which turns a blind eye to their risks, in particular in the design of residential buildings. 

A new study presents the results of the Rate-State Earthquake Simulator Prototype, or RSQSim: It Simulates80,000 years of California's history.It can calculate the magnitude of an earthquake that will occur in the future.

The results of the work are based on historyearthquakes and show realistic predictions for the future. The new approach improves the ability to accurately determine how strong an earthquake is likely to occur in a given location, the developers say, which could help developers plan building heights.
