Scientists predict shrinking "golden autumn" due to global warming

Scientists from ETH Zurich predicted a shortening of the “golden autumn” period due to

global warming. Leaves from trees will fall faster.

Researchers analyzed data from 1948 to2015 in terms of leaf fall in six tree species growing in the temperate climate of Central Europe. Scientists have come to the conclusion that due to the increase in the growing season of trees in spring and summer, that is, the time of growth and development of plants, the leaves will begin to fall faster in the fall. The increase in the growing season is associated with more carbon dioxide, light and higher temperatures. The fact is that with an excess of this, trees stop storing carbon captured by leaves, and it is this that affects their lifespan.

As a result, scientists calculated that if by 2100 carbon dioxide emissions remained high, the leaves of the trees would begin to fall 3-6 days earlier than now.
