American researchers have found that customizing the style and size of a font canincrease
The study showed that changing the font tothe one best suited for a particular person results in a 35% increase in reading speed while maintaining comprehension. It also turned out that people didn't always know which typeface suited them best: personal preference didn't necessarily correlate with reading speed.
During the study, a group of 352 participants inages 18 to 71 were instructed to read the text on their personal devices. 16 common fonts used on the web, newspapers and PDFs were tested.
In the future, scientists hope to create tools that will help people choose an individual font.
