See the final stage of the merging of galaxies

astronomer Max Wolf discovered the faint glow of IC 1613 in 1906.And in 1928, his compatriot Walter Baade used a more powerful 2.5-meter telescope at the Mount ObservatoryThanks to these observations, astronomers were able to find out that this galaxy seems to be quite close to the Milky Way.

Now two interacting galaxies are located at a distance of 275 million light years from Earth in the constellation Cetus. It is noted that they are in the final stages of the merger.

Scientists believe IC 1623 will have a burst of star formation. The collision of two galaxies will start the processes of intensive formation of new stars: stars will begin to be born at a very high speed.
