The InSight mission team combined several sunrise photos into a short timelapse of sunrise on the Red Planet.
InSight is a stationary roverdesigned to study the crust and inner regions of Mars. The vehicle landed in the Elysium Planitia region in November 2018 and is currently in an extended phase after completing its primary mission to explore the Red Planet for a full Martian year (about 687 Earth days).
In January, a powerful dust storm on Mars causedInSight went into a protective "safe mode" because the solar panels could not generate enough power to complete the science mission. According to NASA representatives, by February 15, the device had recovered. InSight will continue its science mission to Mars over the summer and end it in December 2022.
