Seven troubles - one reset. NASA fixes US IBEX satellite with reboot

It appears that the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)

) consulted a computer repair service center in order to repair the American satellite.

What is known

Research spacecraftThe Interstellar Boundary Explorer (IBEX) has been in space for nearly 15 years. In February, NASA experts put the satellite into emergency mode because it stopped responding to commands. The problem was solved with a simple reboot.

The spacecraft could independently performreset, but NASA decided not to waste time. Scientists waited until IBEX got as close as possible to our planet, after which they gave the command to reboot the satellite systems. According to the space agency, all functions of the device are working normally.

IBEX was launched into space in mid-autumn 2008of the year by the L-1011 Stargazer aircraft and the Pegasus XL rocket. The satellite's key mission is to study how the solar wind interacts with the interstellar matter that fills the space between stars within galaxies.

For this, IMEX-Lo and IBEX-Hi cameras are installed on board the spacecraft. They are engaged in the registration of high-energy particles in different ranges.
