Should I upgrade from GTX 1650 Super to RTX 3050?

The authors of the NJ Tech YouTube channel launched on twoPC build options (AMD Ryzen 5 5600X + GTX 1650 Super/RTX 3050) 20 modern games at 1080p and 1440p. Projects included Rainbow Six Extraction, Elden Ring, Assassins Creed: Valhalla, Dying Light 2, Destiny 2: Witch Queen, Cyberpunk 2077 (patch 1.5), Call of Duty: Warzone, God of War, Forza Horizon 5, Far Cry 6, Resident Evil Village, Hitman 3, Watch Dogs: Legion, DOOM Eternal, Red Dead Redemption 2, Apex Legends, Shadow of Tomb Raider, Fortnite, PUBG.

Below – all the main parameters of the RTX 3050 and GTX 1650 Super video cards.

INAssassins Creed: Valhallawith DX12 and the medium preset at 1080p, average performance was 66 fps (GTX 1650 Super) and 80 fps (RTX 3050), at 1440p – 47 and 58 fps respectively.

Call of Duty: Warzoneran on high graphics settings with DX12.At 1080p, average frame rates were 70 fps with the GTX 1650 Super and 111 fps with the RTX 3050. At 1440p, the average frame rates were 43 fps and 79 fps.

In GameForza horizon 5with the high preset and DX12, the average FPS was 75 fps (GTX 1650 Super) and 98 fps (RTX 3050) at 1080p, and 51 fps and 74 fps, respectively, at 1440p.

Far cry 6with the medium preset and with DX12 at 1080p, the average frame rate was at 1080p – 78 fps with GTX 1650 Super and 97 fps with RTX 3050, at 1440p – 53 fps and 68 fps.

INWatch Dogs: Legionwith the medium preset and DX12, the average FPS was 76 fps (GTX 1650 Super) and 89 fps (RTX 3050) at 1080p, and 49 fps and 63 fps, respectively, at 1440p.

Red dead redemption 2I also ran on medium graphics settings with DX12. The average performance here was in Full HD – 79 fps and 104 fps (GTX 1650 Super and RTX 3050), at 1440p – 59 fps and 78 fps.

Shadow of Tomb Raiderran on the highest preset with DX12, TAA. The average performance here was 1080p – 72 fps (with GTX 1650 Super) and 91 fps (with RTX 3050), at 1440p – 47 and 61 fps.

INPUBGOn high graphics settings with DX11, the average frame rate at 1080p resolution was 85 fps (GTX 1650 Super) and 137 fps (RTX 3050), at 1440p – 60 fps and 97 fps respectively.

Conclusion

From the measurements it is clear that the average frame rate and1080p, and at 1440p in all games, the RTX 3050 is consistently higher. Moreover, the difference in average performance between this video card and the GTX 1650 Super in Full HD is 39 percent (76 fps and 106 fps), at 1440p – 45 percent (51 fps and 74 fps).

The difference in heating between video cards is quite insignificant. It is only 4 percent (68 degrees for the GTX 1650 Super and 71 degrees for the RTX 3050).

If we talk about the power consumption of the builds, then it is higher for the configuration with the RTX 3050 (262 W vs. 217 W).
