Signs of water detected in a galaxy far, far away

Astronomers have detected signs of water in the spectrum of molecular gas in the galaxy, which lies in 12.88 billion

light years from our planet.

What is known

The ALMA telescopes installed in the Atacama Desert, Chile, helped make the discovery. According to scientists, this is the most distant discovery of water in history.

Telescopes allow observation of earlyThe Universe, which gives specialists the opportunity to study the conditions for the origin of biological life. This time, water was found in one of two galaxies with the ID SPT0311-58, which were discovered four years ago.

In addition to water molecules, scientists have identified carbon monoxide. This could mean that the development of the molecular universe could begin immediately after the formation of lithium, helium and hydrogen in early stars.
