smartphones. From the latest report from Canalys researchers it follows that the situation remains depressing: this is the fifth consecutive quarter with negative dynamics. This time, the sales decline was 12% year on year, and in units the volume of global shipments amounted to about 270 million smartphones.

Apple, which in Q4 2022 became the leader in shipments onThe wave of success of the iPhone 14 was slightly outpaced by Samsung in the first quarter of 2022, which launched the unexpectedly successful Galaxy S23 series. However, the leadership of the Koreans is very shaky: 22% of the entire market against 21% for Apple - most likely, in the second quarter, Apple will again become a leader. Xiaomi retained the third position, albeit with a decline to 11% of the market (after 13% in Q1 2022). The fourth and fifth lines still belong to OPPO and Vivo (10% and 8% respectively), while the remaining 28% of the market is distributed among smaller brands like Google, Motorola and others.

The researchers note that prolonged sluggishdemand is pushing manufacturers to reduce production volumes and focus on selling existing stocks of devices. The first signs of recovery in the positive dynamics of the mobile market are not expected until the third quarter of this year (July-September).
