Smartphones with 64 and 32 GB of memory have lost popularity

Counterpoint Research analysts found that users have almost stopped buying smartphones with memory capacity below

128 GB.

According to analysts, in 2020 the average amount of NAND flash memory in a smartphone exceeded 100 GB. This happened for the first time in history.

This figure varies depending on the platform. On iOS, the average size was 140.9 GB in the fourth quarter of 2020, and on Android it was 95.7 GB. However, the gap between the two platforms is narrowing. In 2020, the average amount of memory for iOS devices grew by 5.6%, and for Android devices by 20.5%.

The final quarter of last year demonstrated that 128GB is the minimum required standard for most mid- and high-end smartphones. 64 and 32 GB of memory are no longer quoted.
