But an even more intriguing aspect is that satellite connectivity will be available on all devices with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 on board.

Moreover, the global coverage area is declared“from pole to pole” by working with 66 satellites from the orbital communications company Iridium. Launched 25 years ago, the satellites only support speed standards close to 2G, and therefore, without the launch of new satellites, one cannot expect anything more than text exchange.

However, Qualcomm intends to offer not onlysending SOS messages in emergency situations, but even regular correspondence in instant messengers. As the vice president of Snapdragon joked, “to brag about sailing on his yacht.” True, this will already be a paid premium function, the price tag of which has not yet been announced. The launch of Snapdragon Satellite technology will take place in the second half of the year.
