Sony has acquired a 14.1% stake in FromSoftware, the developer of such popular games as Elden Ring, the Dark Souls series, Demon's Souls, Bloodborne and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
In addition to Sony, the largest Chinese holding Tencent has also acquired a stake in Hidetaka Miyazaki's company. He bought a 16.3% stake in FromSoftware.
The total value of the shares now owned by Sony and Tencent is 36.4 billion yen ($262 million).
A controlling stake in FromSoftware is still held by the studio's parent company, Kadokawa Corporation.
Tencent and Sony are buying part of Elden Ring maker From Software.
