Sony Crystal: $ 7.8-inch 16K TV for $ 5.8 million

Sony recently unveiled the Crystal LED TV for cinemas, but now it will be available to regular consumers as well.

Still not for everyone

Sony Crystal LED technology usesmicro-LED modules with 360 x 360 resolution and three tiny LEDs for each pixel. It works similarly to OLED, but is much brighter and has very accurate color reproduction (140% sRGB).

By assembling modules, you can create screens with differentsizes and resolutions. For example, 1080p with 18 modules, 4K (72 modules), 8K (288 modules) and 16K with 576 modules. One part of such a “constructor” will cost $10,000. That is, a 4K display would cost around $720,000, while a 16K would cost $5.8 million.

Sony will show off the TV at CEDIA in Colorado, but there's no word yet on when it will go on sale.
