This was reported by an analyst from the InstituteEconomic Research ACE by Hideki Yasuda. He said that in the first six weeks after release, PS5 sales in Japan amounted to 240,000 units. This is less than any other previous PlayStation console (except PSP).
The analyst says that if the trend continues,then total PS5 sales could be less than half of PS4 sales. To date, about 10 million previous generation consoles have been sold in Japan.
Another cause for concern is that Sony simply doesn'tI was able to supply enough PS5 to Japan for the high sales season at the end of the year. In addition, the Japanese are unhappy that the company is now trying more to meet Western standards.
