Sony's new PS5 is lighter and (almost) doesn't require a screwdriver

Sony has quietly launched a new revision of the PS5 in Australia. The source says that

updated PS5 models include a new screw forbase stand, which no longer requires a screwdriver. Sony has reportedly replaced the screw with a new one with a plastic grip around the top so it can be easily adjusted by hand.

The source also says that the updated modelsThe PS5 is about 300 grams lighter than the original, but it's unclear what exactly Sony removed or changed to reduce the weight. The new PS5 comes with model number CFI-1102A, instead of the CFI-1000 used on the original.

Australia appears to be the first country tothese slightly modified PS5 models appeared. While Sony has eliminated the need to use a screwdriver for the recommended stand, you will still need one to access the optional removable M.2 solid state drive.

Sony plans to introduce supportremovable SSD drives in an upcoming software update. The update, which is currently available to beta testers, also includes improvements to the PS5's user interface, 3D audio support for the TV's built-in speakers, and an improved way to differentiate between the PS4 and PS5 versions of games.
