Sources: iPhone will have an always-on display and astrophotography mode

According to sources, the iPhone update in 2021 will mark several important changes, especially in

display technologies. For example, new smartphone models are expected to support the Always On Display function, which has been present in Android devices for a long time, and was recently introduced in the Apple Watch Series 6. Thanks to it, new iPhones will turn off display time, weather, battery charge and notifications.

As expected, the iPhone 13 (or iPhone 12s) will receiveenergy-efficient OLED display created using LTPO (Low-temperature polycrystalline silicon) technology.  The essence of the technology is that the matrix pixels are produced on the basis of low-temperature polycrystalline oxide. This allows hardware and software methods to dynamically change the refresh rate of such a screen. In addition, the new generation of iPhone should receive a screen with a maximum refresh rate of 120 Hz, but to reduce power consumption, the high frequency will be used when playing movies or games, and when scrolling in the browser or social applications, the frequency will be able to drop to a comfortable 60 Hz. In the case of static images, this frequency can be completely reduced to 1 Hz - this will be invisible to the human eye, but the battery charge savings will be significant.

The company may also add a separate mode for creating astrophotography and integrate video recording into portrait photography.
