SpaceX won't limit Starlink data rates when using 1TB in the US and Canada

At the end of 2022, information appeared that in the USA and Canada SpaceX will limit the transmission speed

data in Starlink upon reaching the limit set at 1 TB per month. Almost six months later, the American company changed its mind about introducing restrictions.

What is known

Initially, the limits were supposed to come into force onDecember 2022, but SpaceX first postponed their introduction to February 2023, and then moved it back another two months. Now there is no mention of traffic restrictions at all on the Starlink website.

As a reminder, the "Fair Use Policy"предполагала снижение скорости спутникового интернета при достижении лимита в 1 ТБ данных в месяц. Ограничения должны были действовать с 07:00 до 23:00. Стоимость дополнительного трафика на нормальной скорости составила бы $0,25 за 1 ГБ.

The new version of the Fair Use Policystates that Starlink customers will receive unlimited data monthly in accordance with the terms of the Standard plan. The download speed will be 25-100 Mbps and 5-50 Mbps for home users and for roaming, respectively.

However, SpaceX will still be able to limitcompound. It is reported that in case of regularly exceeding the established bandwidth level, the company may temporarily reduce the speed to prevent overloading the service. First of all, this will affect the work of streaming applications.
