SpaceX launches SiriusM communications satellite

The two-stage Falcon 9 rocket was scheduled to lift off from Launch Complex 40 at the Cape Cosmodrome.

Canaveral in Florida. It took one hour and 59 minutes.

At the top of the Falcon 9, 70 meters high, wasthe powerful Sirius XM-8 (SXM-8) satellite, created by Maxar Technologies for the Sirius XM. It is the second of two radio satellites launched by SpaceX for the company as part of a project to replace obsolete satellites in orbit.

The launch was shown live, but the whole process can be watched in the recording. The last 15 minutes of the broadcast captured the start itself.

SpaceX announced the launch in justminutes after the successful launch of another Falcon 9 rocket on Thursday, June 3. This rocket launched from pad 39A carrying the Dragon cargo ship, which was carrying NASA materials and experimental equipment for the crew of the International Space Station (ISS).

After takeoff on Sunday, the firsta rocket stage will land on a SpaceX unmanned spacecraft in the Atlantic. If successful, it will be the 87th first-stage recovery for SpaceX.
