SpaceX has limited the capabilities of Starlink in Ukraine – satellite internet can no longer be used to control drones

SpaceX has decided to limit the use of Starlink satellite Internet for unmanned aerial vehicles in

Ukraine. This was announced by the company's president and chief operating officer, Gwynne Shotwell, during a conference in Washington.

What is known

Now the Ukrainian military cannot usesatellite internet to control unmanned aerial vehicles. According to the company's COO, this decision was made due to the fact that the management of drones is outside the scope of the agreement that was signed between Ukraine and SpaceX.

However, Gwynn Shotwell stated that she was aware ofthat the military uses terminals for communication and called it "normal". At the same time, SpaceX does not want satellite Internet to be used as a weapon. However, the President does not specify what measures were taken to limit the capabilities of Starlink.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine use commercialdrones for adjusting artillery fire and dropping bombs on enemy positions. Last month, one drone was shot down with a Starlink antenna attached to it.
