SpaceX sent ants, avocado and robot to the space station

SpaceX successfully launched the Dragon spacecraft to the ISS. Two-stage Falcon 9 launch vehicle launched

from Pad 39A of the Kennedy Space Center toCape Canaveral at 3:14 East Coast time (10:14 Moscow time). The cargo on board Dragon weighs 2,200 kg - various equipment for experiments, as well as fresh food, including avocados, lemons and even ice cream for the seven astronauts on the space station.

Also in the parcel there are experimental ants,shrimp and plants, as well as plant seeds, which are used in genetic research. In addition, samples of concrete, solar cells and other materials were sent to the ISS to subject them to weightlessness.

SpaceX also sent Dragon to spaceexperimental robotic arm station from a Japanese startup company. She will carry out work and everyday tasks to “unload” the astronaut.

After lifting the Dragon capsule, the boosterthe first stage landed vertically on the newest oceanic platform Shortfall of Gravitas. SpaceX founder Elon Musk continues the tradition of naming boosters after the late works of science fiction writer Ian Banks.
