SpaceX space debris falls on a farm in southeast Australia

Representatives of the Australian Space Agency visited the region to inspect the find.

It is believed that these are the remains of the old SpaceX Dragon spacecraft that delivered cargo to the ISS, which burned up during its return to the Earth's atmosphere.

New piece of spaceship discoveredlocal. Earlier in the same region, local farmers found two more similar fragments. One of them, the largest, about 3 m in size, stood stuck in the ground right in the middle of a sheep pasture.

The locals began to make unusualopening after the explosion that sounded in the sky on July 9. Researchers believe it was related to the re-entry into Earth's atmosphere of a spacecraft used by SpaceX on early space missions. Apparently, the remains of the rocket did not completely burn out.

Astrophysicist Australian College of SciencesNational University Brad Tucker believes that the discovery of these parts could be the largest find of space debris in Australia since parts of NASA's Skylab space station fell to Earth in southwestern Western Australia in 1979.
