SpaceX to launch Starlink Aviation service, which will provide 350 Mbps satellite Internet access in aircraft

SpaceX has taken a serious approach to providing access to Starlink satellite Internet for aircraft passengers.

Elon Musk's company in 2023will launch a service called Starlink Aviation, whose name speaks for itself. It will be available not only in the United States. Thanks to the new service, aircraft passengers will have access to the Internet at speeds up to 350 Mbps.

Despite the fact that we are talking about speed for350 Mbps per individual aircraft, not a passenger, is a huge jump from what airlines are offering to customers now. Most aircraft now have air-to-ground systems that provide speeds up to 10 Mbps. The disadvantage of this technology is that Internet access is available only during the flight over the ground.

Satellite systems provide speeddata transfers of 30-100 Mbps, but are rarely used. In the case of Starlink Aviation, SpaceX promises that the Internet connection will be fast enough for video calls and online games. The delay time will be up to 20 ms. At the same time, Starlink Aviation will operate during takeoff, in flight, incl. above water, and when landing.

In mid-September it became known that SpaceXtested the operation of satellite Internet in the plane of the Californian company JSX, which flew from Burbank to San Jose. The data transfer rate during the entire flight was more than 100 Mbps. The installed equipment simulated the load on the system from 30 users.
