The main symptoms in children were:

  • Fever, malaise, muscle or joint pain, and impairment of smell or taste were recorded in 18.8%.
  • 16.5% have respiratory symptoms including cough and shortness of breath.
  • 13.9% - gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.
  • 8.1% - dermatological symptoms - rash and peeling of the skin.
  • 4.8% - headaches.

It is noted that the risk of hospitalization and intensive care was the same for boys and girls.Among older patients, men are hospitalized more often than women. 

The authors note that it is necessary to develop a special screening procedure in schools and other childcare facilities to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus infection.
