Spot Robodogs danced to BTS's K-pop song in honor of Boston Dynamics' merger with Hyundai - even better than BTS

By the end of last week, Hyundai and Boston Dynamics completed a deal in which Hyundai acquired a controlling stake from SoftBank

Boston Dynamics shareholding. They decided to celebrate the reunion in an unusual way - with a dance of Spot robot dogs.

Simply the best

In the video, 7 robots dance to the song of the famousKorean boy band BTS “IONIQ: I’m On It”. And they do it much better than expected - the movements are synchronous and simply mesmerizing. In general, words cannot describe it - it’s better to see it in person.

“There were many problems associated with integrationinto the software vision of our choreographer, who is used to dealing with human dancers. Everything had to be thought out in advance and clearly spelled out. Robots have an advantage over humans in that they can easily reproduce the correct sequence: once you get it right once, it will stay right when repeated. The disadvantage of them is that they need to be told every little detail. They don’t improvise at all,” said Boston Dynamics roboticist Eric Whitman.

In the second video, Hyundai welcomes Boston Dynamics to its family. By the way, the same members of the BTS group took part in the filming.

Let us remind you that according to the deal, Hyundai now owns 80% of the shares of Boston Dynamics, and SoftBank retained the remaining 20%. The purchase cost Hyundai $1.1 billion.
