Spotify launches shared playlists “Blend” for all users

Spotify has announced that it is starting to distribute its long-awaited Blend feature for creating shared

playlists among all users.The feature launched in beta to a small percentage of Spotify users earlier this year and is now rolling out to all subscribers to the service.

What is Blend

In a blog post, Spotify explained thatBlend – it's a way for “two users to combine their musical tastes into one shared playlist created just for them”. After beta testing of the feature began at the beginningSpotify has made several improvements this summer, including a new Taste Matching feature that lets you see your preferences compared to your friends'.

Right now you can find the Blend option in the Spotify app and start creating shared playlists. You may need to update the app to the latest version.

How to use Blend

Spotify explains how to proceed:

  • Click “Create Blend” (Create Blend) in the center “Made for You” (Made for You) on your mobile device.
  • Then click “Invite” (Invite) to select a friend to join your playlist and notify them with a message.
  • Once your friend agrees, Spotify will create a cover art and tracklist for the two of you that will collect songs that match your preferences and tastes.
  • Share your Blend results on social media by clicking the “Share this story” (Share this story) at the bottom of the data history screen.

While Blend is available to all Spotify subscribers,Premium users will receive an additional benefit. According to Spotify, premium subscribers can see additional data about the preferences that contributed to the creation of each song in a playlist.
