Sputnik V clinical trial on adolescents to begin in July

Deputy Mayor for Social Development Anastasia Rakova said that the study will begin in July and

will last a year: based on its results, a decision will be made on including adolescents in the COVID-19 vaccination program.

The same as before for citizens over 18 years of age,The study will take place in three phases, using already proven technology. The first and second phases of the study will be conducted at two leading children's hospitals in the capital - Morozov Children's Hospital and Children's Hospital named after. BEHIND. Bashlyaeva.

Number of volunteers:

  • The first two phases: 100 people,
  • Third phase—250 people.

The recruitment of participants in the first and second phases of research is currently underway, Rakova said. She noted that based on the test results, a decision will be made to include adolescents in the vaccination program.

Rakova noted that during testingvolunteers will be injected with Sputnik V, but in a smaller volume. After the introduction of the first and second components, adolescents will remain in isolated hospital rooms for three days, where their well-being will be monitored. 

The study will involve volunteers who have no contraindications to the drug or other medical contraindications.
