Stadia is preparing a retaliation: Google bought a studio to develop exclusive games

The launch of the cloud gaming service Stadia was not a breakthrough in the industry, and even could disappoint the first

users. Nevertheless, Google decided not to give up and has already acquired a team for the development of exclusive games.

What is known

The company bought Typhoon Studios, consisting ofindustry veterans. So the head of the studio, Alex Hutchinson, worked on Batman: Arkham Knight and Splinter Cell, and co-founder Raid Schneider was considered the lead designer of Sims 2 and creative director of Assassin's Creed III and Far Cry 4. Nevertheless, Google liked the ability of a team of 26 people to make interesting games, and most importantly quickly.

“They really put together an AAA team, and the goalthe acquisition is to gain an advantage in creating games that define the system that everyone is waiting for. This is the best team of AAA industry veterans who already have an excellent working relationship and can quickly ship something and have a lot of great ideas for the platform, ”said Jade Raymond, head of Stadia Games & Entertainment.

Typhoon Studios just recently joinedGoogle, so the exclusive Stadia project is still at an early stage of development and the team is looking for ideas. In addition, according to Raymond, the new studio game will not be released soon and the release is worth waiting after 2020. Typhoon is Google’s first exclusive studio and is now considering buying other teams.

Typhoon is currently working on Journey to the Savage Planet. Due to the merger with Google, the team’s plans have not changed, and the game will be released on January 20 on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC in the Epic Games Store.
