Startup has created tiny robots that work in the human brain

Bionaut Labs worked with the Max Planck Research Institute: together a team of scientists came up with an idea

use magnetic energy to control robots.

Magnetic coils placed on the outside of the patient's skull are connected to a computer. The device can remotely introduce a microrobot into the affected part of the brain, and then remove it in the same way.

The entire apparatus is easily transported, unlike MRI, and consumes 10-100 times less electricity, the authors note.

The researchers plan to use the robot,to puncture fluid-filled cysts in the brain. Also, if successful, the devices are going to be used to treat Dandy-Walker syndrome, a rare brain defect that occurs in children.

The authors have already tested robots on largeanimals such as sheep and pigs. They note that according to their data, the development is safe for people. Microrobotic technology will help reach areas of the brain that cannot be reached with conventional surgical methods.
