Stronger than Kevlar: the world's first iPhone case made from Vectran, a material used in astronautics, is presented

Newcloth has released the world's first smartphone case made from Vectran.

What it is?

Vectran

(Vectran) is a liquid crystal polyestera fiber that is 20-50% stronger than Kevlar. In the 90s, it was used to protect the rover during landing as part of NASA's Mars Pathfinder program. In addition, this material is included in astronaut space suits and is used on the International Space Station.

The Vectran case is designed for iPhone smartphones and supports accessories with MagSafe magnetic charging. It is only 0.75mm thick and weighs 15g.

But Newcloth has released a limited number of them. There are only 2000 pieces of ZPX-001 Martian Sunset available for $99 and only 200 pieces of Martian Pathfinder 25th Anniversary Edition for $149.
