Students made a prototype of a robot to clean up the Arctic. It will be launched in tandem with a drone.

Students developed a robot for cleaning the Arctic, which was presented at the science and technology festival

"Technosreda" in Moscow.

Robot prototype

Its design has six wheels and a manipulator, which can pick up and carry objects. The development presented on the forum is a working model. A real robot would have to be the size of a car and have a larger load capacity.

Industrial waste, fuel barrels,There is a lot of scrap metal left in the Far North. Assembling it by hand is a long and unsafe process. This is where our robot should help. Now the operator can control it remotely.

The developers plan to organize the work of the robotin conjunction with a drone: the drone will fly and independently detect deposits of garbage, and when detected, it will signal the robot to collect and transport it.

Such robots can be used in various fields: rescuers, employees of mining and geological exploration companies are already showing interest in the development, the university press service noted.
