Study: Bullshit people tend to overestimate their abilities

According to a new study, people who mistake meaningless phrases for profound statements are like...

As a rule, they overestimate their own cognitive abilities, especially creative ones. Discuss

Scientists admitted that they were worried about the question: do people who find all sorts of nonsense meaningful also tend to consider their ability to solve problems and generate ideas high?

In the study, 100 participants read varioussentences and rated how deep they considered each statement. Among the proposals were both complete nonsense and meaningful statements. Participants then completed tests to assess creativity.

Scientists have found that people who believed inbullshit tended to be overconfident in their ability to perform creative tasks. At the same time, they coped with the tasks worse than people who did not consider nonsense serious.
