Study: Old friends want to hear more from you than you think

In a series of experiments in whichnearly 6,000 adults, the researchers found that people underestimate the value of reaching out to old friends they haven't had contact with in a while. Recipients seemed to appreciate this small gesture—often just a short "How are you" message—more than the sender expected.
