Specialists from Backblaze conducted an interesting study lasting 4 years.Back in 2018, they

We have converted some of our servers from classic HDDs to SSDs.

And so, in 2022, they decided to compare the reliability of the two types of memory. It turned out that 0.66% of server HDDs stopped loading in the first year - SSDs had no failures at all over the same period.

Then, during the second year, the failure rate of HDDs reached 1.54%, compared to only 0.84% for SSDs. The third year showed results of 1.38% and 0.79% respectively.

The experiment ended with the fact that 3.55% of HDD drives broke down over the entire time, while losses among SSDs are 0.92%. Note that this difference is almost four times!
