A new study conducted at the UniversityNewcastle, showed that autonomous vehicles may need to be equipped with gender-sensitive settings. It turned out that women had better control of the drone when they had to react to danger. They reacted faster, were less hasty and had better steering.

In the experiment of scientists, 33 female drivers and 43male drivers drove a car in a DriveLAB simulator that simulates a Level 3 drone. This means that the car can move almost without the control of the pilot, especially on roads with "predictable" traffic, but the driver must be ready to take control at any time. The experiment showed that the average reaction time to a dangerous driving situation for women was 2.45 seconds, and for men - 2.63 seconds. It was also found that female drivers turned the steering wheel less sharply, while maintaining better stability.
