Taking vitamin D was a waste of time in terms of bone health

Taking vitamin D supplements does not help prevent bone fractures in people, new study finds

most healthy people. Discuss

More than 25,000 adults participated in the study. 1991 fractures were considered among 1551 people over a five-year period.

Compared with placebo participants, those who took vitamin D3 supplements did not reduce the risk of various bone fractures. These included fractures of the femoral neck, wrist, pelvic bones, etc.

The results of the study, however, apply only to healthy people. They do not apply to adults with vitamin D deficiency, low bone mass, or osteoporosis.
