Telegram allowed outsiders to access video and audio from secret chats

Security researcher Dhiraj Mishra discovered a vulnerability in the macOS version of Telegram that allowed

outsiders gain access to self-destructing video and audio from secret chats.

The vulnerability was found in the version of the Telegram 7.3 application.Attackers could use it to gain access to self-destructing audio and video messages even long after they disappeared from secret chats.

The researcher said that when the usersends an audio or video message via a regular chat in Telegram, the application transmits the path where the message is stored in the ".mp4" format. If you send audio or video in a secret chat, the path information is not transmitted, but the message is still saved in the same place.

The researcher explained that Telegram stores a local copy of messages sent in secret chats along a given path. And this is an unsafe practice.
