Tesla refused to release the cheapest version of the Model Y Standard Range and reduced prices for existing trim levels

Tesla launched its new electric car Model Y in March with a price tag of $52,990, but four months later

the company decided to lower the price tag for the new product.

What is known

From the start of sales, the car was availableonly in two top trim levels (Long Range and Performance), but the company initially promised to release two more cheaper versions (Dual Motor AWD and Standard Range). As Elon Musk reported on Twitter, Tesla decided to abandon the Standard Range modification due to the low range (less than 400 km on the EPA cycle), but at the same time reduced the cost of existing versions.

Now Long Range version with increased stockthe course will cost $3000 less. That is, the car will cost customers $49,990. The top-of-the-line Tesla Model Y Performance also costs $59,990, but it has a Performance Package added to it. It includes a top speed of up to 248 km/h, uprated brakes, 21-inch wheels, lower ride height and aluminum alloy pedal caps. Previously, these options required additional payment.

By the way, Tesla is still planning to release a cheaper version of the Model Y. It will be a Long Range RWD package with one engine and a price tag of $45,000.
