According to the latest safety research conducted by The Dawn Project, Tesla's Full Self-Driving system may cause
Project Dawn, founded by Dan O'Dowd,involves developing software that does not break and cannot be hacked. It was he who developed secure operating systems for many projects, such as the Boeing 787 and NASA's Orion research vehicle.
The project the company is working on is Elon Musk's deployment of a Full Self-Driving (FSD) system.
Tesla Full Self-Driving Beta 10.69.2.2, the most recent version of the software at the time of testing, was used in security tests conducted by The Dawn Project in Santa Barbara, California in October 2022.
During testing, experts found that TeslaFull Self-Driving repeatedly ran over a stroller in a parking lot. Testing also showed that on public roads, a fully self-driving Tesla car often hit a child's dummy in a stroller. An example in the video below.
A child's dummy in a stroller was placed on the pathcar movement. Before each trip, the driver programmed the Tesla: the footage shows that the FSD function is activated. To demonstrate that the accelerator pedal was not pressed during the test, a flashlight was installed above it.
Since the program was unable to detect anyobstacles, the car accelerated to 48 km/h and hit the sidecar with all its force. On the Tesla screen, only one error message was displayed: “Super charging is not available: add a payment method to your Tesla account.”
The company claims that the tests were carried out in real-life driving scenarios on public roads.
Project Dawn has previously published testssecurity of Tesla Full Autonomous Beta 10.69.2.2. The vehicle was found to be passing a stopped school bus and speeding in school zones. An example is in the video above.
