Tesla rival: Mazda's new electric car - Mazda MX-30

Japanese automaker introduced a small urban crossover MX-30, which most recently presented at

Tokyo Motor Show. In addition to 35.5 kWh of lithium-ion battery and e-Skyactiv function, the crossover offers doors made according to the “Freestyle” scheme. This means that the side doors open in the center, which "gives customers the opportunity to invent new ways to use the machine."

What about the doors?

At Tesla Model X, the doors opened upwards, at the MX-30the doors open 82 degrees forward and 80 degrees back. As planned by the automaker, this should make loading and unloading people and goods easier than ever. Nevertheless, this is not a big SUV: its length is only 4.2 meters, and its height is about 150 cm.

What is special about the design?

The key feature of the Mazda MX-30 was the dynamics. The car will receive a traction vector control function that allows you to distribute the weight of the car in the correct plane. One electric motor is located at the front, and the battery at the rear, which gives a low center of gravity and good longitudinal stability, respectively.

Mazda's battery frame is attached to the body in 20places that allows the car to be steady and very low noise. The battery is cooled by a refrigerant system, and fast charging is possible thanks to the CHAdeMO or COMBO standards. The version in the photographs is European, but there is still no data on price or specific characteristics.
