Tesla plans to use its battery energy storage technology in the UK
The technology is a buffer storage zonebetween companies that produce renewable energy and users. At Powerpack stations, energy companies can store electricity from green sources.
Currently, more than 40% of all consumed inUK electricity is generated from renewable sources, including sun and wind. With Powerpack in the country, the generation gap on cloudy and windless days can be smoothed out.
Tesla has in the UKseveral small Powerpack stations, but they are several dozen times smaller than a similar station that the company recently built in Australia. The company also plans to build a network of such stations in Canada.
