The announcement of the folding Samsung W20: the same Galaxy Fold, only with 5G and a Snapdragon 855+ chip

Today Samsung, as promised, introduced the Samsung W20 smartphone. And although this is a representative of the W-series,

it is not made in a “clamshell” shape. Essentially, this is a slightly updated folding smartphone Galaxy Fold.

What changed

The most important changes are 5G support and the presence of a top-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ processor.

The design is almost identical, only the frames are largerrounded. In general, external changes affected mainly the metal frame, but you won’t notice them if you don’t compare the Samsung W20 and the Galaxy Fold.

What else

Otherwise, it's the same Galaxy Fold:7.3-inch large screen, 4.6-inch panel (1960x840 pixels) for use when folded, 12 GB of RAM, 512 GB of storage, fingerprint scanner on the end, 4235 mAh battery with support for fast and wireless charging and the proprietary One UI shell is, however, based on the stale Android Pie.

There are also six cameras:triple on the back side (12 MP, 12 MP telephoto and 16 MP wide-angle camera), dual front camera in expanded form (10+8 MP) and 10 megapixel front camera in folded form. Therefore, no matter how you twist your smartphone, there are cameras everywhere.

We also didn’t forget about NFC and IP68 protection against moisture and dust.

When and where to wait

Samsung promises that the W20 will be available in China soon. Most likely, he will not go beyond the Celestial Empire. For example, Samsung W2018 was only sold in Asia.

The price is also unknown.
