The authorities will spend over 250 million rubles to expand the face recognition system in the Moscow metro

The publication MBKH Media discovered a tender on the government procurement portal, according to which the Moscow government department

allocated more than 252 million rubles to expand the facial recognition system in the capital’s metro.

It is reported that the contractor will have to installat least 2,220 hard drives with at least 4 TB each. That is, the order is essentially aimed at expanding the "data storage system" received from the cameras. The total recording storage capacity will increase by 8,880 TB.

The publication "MBH Media" recalled that the systemvideo surveillance with facial recognition in the metro began to be created in 2015. It was launched in 2018. Cameras are capable of recognizing the faces of trespassers or criminals who are on the wanted list.
