The creators of Warframe announced Soulframe – MMORPG inspired by “Princess Mononoke”

In May, it became known that the Digiral Extremes studio had registered the Soulframe trademark. As it turned out at the festival

TennoCon is indeed a new game, but it is not related to Warframe - perhaps not directly.

Soulframe is a shareware fantasy MMORPGwith an emphasis on close combat. Events will unfold in a new universe, the main theme will be the clash of nature and humanity, and the central characters will be the world itself.

According to creative director Jeff Crooks, the authors take inspiration from the film “The NeverEnding Story” and the works of Hayao Miyazaki – in particular, from “Princess Mononoke”.

What else is known about Soulframe:

  • The emphasis is on exploration and cooperative PvE battles.
  • There are procedurally generated networks of caves.
  • Gameplay is much slower than Warframe.
  • A hub is an open location, but not a set of rooms and corridors.
  • Despite the name, this is not a soullike!

The Soulframe concept began to be discussed in 2019, butuntil February 2022, a small team was working on the game, which consisted mainly of artists. The project is still in the early stages of production, but a select few will be given access to testing throughout the year.

The game does not have a release date.
