According to a representative of the Moscow Planetarium, literally today the distance between the Sun and Earth
“On Sunday, January 5, our planet will be inperihelion – the closest point to the Sun in its orbit, which it passes once a year. The earth passes it in early January, it is more than 147 million km. At the same time, the Earth passes its farthest point, aphelion, in early July, ending up at a distance of more than 152 million km from the Sun,” – shared by Lyudmila Koshman, an employee of the Moscow Planetarium.
Koshman also noted that due to the maximumby approximation, the only star in the solar system will look 3% larger than it was recorded in early summer, when the planets were located as far away from each other as possible.
