The heads of Sony's gaming division have repeatedly voiced two key points of their new strategy:
- Big plans for the Horizon franchise.
- Bet on games-services.
The news below demonstrates that the Japanese company has already begun to implement both points.
What is known
South Korean publication MTN has learned thatSony and Korean developer NCSoft – author of the famous multiplayer game Lineage – signed an agreement to create an MMORPG based on the Horizon universe.
NCSoft is already recruiting staff to work on a project under the working title Project H. It is believed that this is how the multiplayer game based on the Horizon franchise is designated.
Sony has long planned to add multiplayerelements in Horizon: Zero Dawn and Horizon: Forbidden West, but in the end, these games remained single projects. Now, an experienced Korean team will create an MMORPG based on the Horizon universe with a view to a wide audience.
For those unaware
The Horizon Universe is unique and authentic. In it, humanity survived a global catastrophe and descended to the level of ancient civilizations, and the Earth is inhabited by animal-like robots.
At the moment, two parts of the game have been released, which are very popular among gamers.
Judging by the open ending of Forbidden West and the hints of the developers, gamers are also expecting the third part of Horizon.
