The doctor told how to control cholesterol after 50 years

The famous American nutritionist, author of the Sports Nutrition Guide, Amy Goodson, told how

fight cholesterol after 50 years. Discuss

According to an expert, cholesterol maymanifest at any age, depending on lifestyle and dietary culture, but after 50 years it becomes truly life-threatening. High cholesterol is caused by a diet that contains too many saturated fats and trans fats. One symptom may be sudden numbness or weakness in the arms or legs. This happens because cholesterol forms plaques in blood vessels that block blood flow to the heart and brain, which in turn can lead to a heart attack or stroke.

The indicators at which you need to take charge of your health are “moderately elevated” cholesterol in the range of 5–6 mmol/l, but if it is 7 mmol/l or higher, it is considered life-threatening.

Prevention is physical activity- training several times a week, walking a sufficient distance. Diet changes are equally important: increasing the diet of soluble fiber, such as oatmeal, and foods made from oatmeal, nuts and seeds, as well as fruits that can be eaten, such as apples, pears and berries.
